At Tilston Parochial CE Primary Academy, we are committed to being an inclusive school where every child is valued, supported and given the opportunity to flourish and achieve.
The education and wider experiences we provide are carefully planned to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This includes classroom learning, educational visits, sporting activities, enrichment opportunities, clubs and all aspects of school life. We work to identify and remove barriers to learning and participation so that all children can access the opportunities available to them.
Our SEND provision is led by Mrs Pam Edwards, SENDCO, who works closely with children, parents and carers, teaching staff and external professionals to ensure that appropriate support is in place.
Mr Tedham is our SEND Link Governor and provides strategic oversight of SEND on behalf of the Governing Body. He works with school leaders to monitor provision and ensure that the needs of pupils with SEND remain a priority.
We are also supported by Katy Davies, NWAT SEND Lead, who provides specialist advice, guidance and support to further strengthen SEND provision across our school.
Special Educational Needs & Disability Regulations 2014
In line with the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014, we are committed to making our curriculum accessible for children with disabilities or special educational needs (SEN).
Our approach includes:
- Individual Plans (IPs): We develop tailored education plans to meet the specific needs of children with SEN, ensuring they receive the necessary support to succeed. Parents of children with IPs will be invited into school regularly throughout the year to discuss their child’s progress and review targets.
- Inclusive Teaching Practices: Our teachers use a variety of teaching methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Accessible Facilities: Our school premises are designed to be accessible for our small school community.
- Specialist Support Services: We collaborate with external specialists, such as speech and language therapists (SALT), occupational therapists, and educational psychologists, to provide additional support for students with SEN where appropriate.
Continuous Improvement & Feedback
We believe in continuous improvement and actively seek feedback from parents, children, and staff to enhance our curriculum and practices. By fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment, we aim to empower every child to reach their full potential.
