PSHE
‘Let your light shine.’ Matthew 5:16
Our Personal, Social and Health Education Policy encompasses all the following areas: Personal, Social, Health, Economic, Citizenship, Relationships and Sex Education. At Tilston Parochial Primary Academy we believe that our identity as a Christian community gives us something a bit special... We root all that we do in the values shown to us by Jesus.
At Tilston, our PSHE curriculum is based on the PSHE Association framework and has been carefully adapted to meet the individual needs of our pupils and our school community. Rooted in our Christian vision and our Tilston Code of ‘Be Ready, Be Respectful, Be Safe’, our curriculum supports every child to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to flourish.
Through PSHE, children learn how to build positive friendships and relationships, develop confidence and self-esteem, understand themselves and others, and value and respect similarities and differences. We encourage pupils to make healthy choices that support both their physical and mental wellbeing, helping them to recognise and manage emotions, develop resilience and know when and how to seek help.
Safety is woven throughout our curriculum, ensuring children develop the knowledge and confidence to keep themselves and others safe in school, within their local community and online. Ultimately, our PSHE curriculum aims to equip our children with the skills, values and understanding they need to become happy, healthy, respectful and responsible members of their community.
Our Chris Quigley Essential personal development goals complement our PSHE curriculum and provide the knowledge and skills for our children to become confident, independent learners who respect themselves and others.
