Roman Day

The House Martins were simply wonderful today as they became members of the Roman Army and learned about many aspects of life in the roman times during our visit to Chester. They marched along the city walls to the Amphitheatre where they learned how to battle the Celts and become a gladiator. Molly battled bravely and defeated the opposition with a swift blow, leaving him begging for mercy.

Later on, Teddy dressed for battle in full armour while others explored roman food, mosaics and hypocaust heating systems. The children experienced becoming an archaeologist, sorting out what would rot and therefore would not provide evidence of the past.

The behaviour of the class was outstanding, with the education officer mentioning that they were a pleasure to work with. Watch this space for the work they produce as a result of their day.
